Filmed at the Saenger Performing Arts Center in New Orleans, "Richard Pryor: Here and Now" marked the first major concert film of the comedian following his accidental burning while using drugs (which is made mention of by the comedian in the film). Essentially this is a documentary of his coming back from that near tragedy to still be at the height of his career and as admired by his audience as he was before. Other topics touched upon are his youth in Illinois, drugs, sex, and some of his stock characters from his concerts - including an amazing performance showing a heroin addict giving up to his addiction and life.
