"Scarface" (1983) is a remake of an old 1932 movie with the same title. The 1983 storyline is updated to portray the contemporary rise of fictional character Tony Montana, played by Al Pacino. Montana is a Cuban refugee who lands in America in hopes of finding a better life. Tony is quickly sucked into the criminal underworld of drug kingpins and the cocaine trade. After gaining the trust of a Miami-based drug overlord, he gains wealth and street credibility. Eventually Montana moves up by murdering his boss and establishes his own cocaine-based empire. He establishes business alliances in South America and has achieved his goal of running a powerful criminal enterprise. His fondness for children, impulsive/erratic behavior, and severe overuse of cocaine leads to his eventual downfall.
