Eddie Murphy does a one hundred and seven minute stand-up routine in a skin tight red leather suit. This routine was recorded in 1983 when he was a mere twenty two years old and much more raunchy than the Eddie Murphy of today. His routine involved numerous impersonations of celebrities and members of his own family. The stories he tells about his impoverished childhood and dysfunctional family are sprawling epics. Murphy didn’t make any pretenses to political correctness at this early stage of his career. Every sentence was full of obscenities. His perspectives on sex and sexual identity were adolescent. This performance was at the height of Murphy’s popularity as a comedian.
